What Is Credible Research?
The role of cervical afferents in Primary Headache remains controversial. This, it has been suggested, will not change until the publication of credible, quality research. Furthermore, eminent researchers have expressed dismay at the growing publication of empty, inconsequential research, so… what constitutes credible, quality research? Who better to answer this than Prof Dr Gianluca Coppola, editor of numerous scientific (headache) journals.
Professor Dr Gianluca Coppola is a Professor of Neurology, Scientific Fellow at the Department of Neurophysiology of Vision and Neuro-ophthalmology, “G.B. Bietti” Foundation – IRCCS, Rome, and Researcher, at the Department of Medico-Surgical Sciences and Biotechnologies, “Sapienza” University of Rome, Polo Pontino –I.C.O.T., Latina, Italy.
Professor Dr Coppola has published widely (10 book chapters, 105 Peer-reviewed journal articles; 105, with a total impact factor of > 370 and currently a Personal H index of 24 (Scopus), and presented (nationally and internationally on numerous (100+) occasions) in the areas of neurophysiology of primary headache (particularly migraine), brain and plasticity, and pain. His research has involved Evoked Potentials (somatosensory, visual, auditory), Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, Electromyography and Neuroimaging.
Professor Dr Coppola’s eminence in the headache and migraine research area has led to editorial positions on Boards of many journals including ISRN Pain, Journal of Headache and Pain, BioMed Research International, Frontiers Neurology, and BMC Neurology. He is also an Ad-hoc reviewer for 38 journals including Brain, Cephalalgia, The Journal of Pain, Journal of Headache and Pain, Clinical Neurophysiology, Experimental Brain Research, European Journal of Neurology, Headache, Expert Review of Neurotherapeutics, Acta Neurologica Scandinavica, Headache Currents, Journal of Experimental and Integrative Medicine, The International Journal of Neuroscience, Journal of Neural Transmission, BMC Neurology, The Lancet Neurology, European Journal of Pain, and Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery.
Professor Dr Coppola is a Member of the International Headache Society (IHS), the Italian Society of the Study of Headache (SISC), the Italian Society of Clinical Neurophysiology (SINC), the Italian Society of Neurology (SIN), and the Italian Society of Psychophysiology and Cognitive Neurosciences (SIPF).
