Are We Doing ‘Pain Education’ Or ‘Pain Neuroscience’?
Is ‘Pain Neuroscience’ and ‘Pain Education’ the same, different, or complementary? This presentation attempts to define both and answer the question. In addition, the merit and relevancy of ‘Education’ of our headache and migraine patients will be discussed; this will identify relevant or irrelevant clinical actions. The Watson Headache® Approach tends to be viewed as solely ‘manual therapy’ – is it? In this presentation during the 2nd Watson Headache® Institute International Symposium Online, Romain will also address this perception.
In 2012 Romain graduated with a Masters Degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Liège, Belgium. Since he has completed many postgraduate courses and attended international conferences in pursuit of his goals… increasing the knowledge and understanding of the migraine condition; promotion of the biopsychosocial approach for chronic pain patient and EBM and IFOMPT for physiotherapy.
During this time Romain has also taught and presented the role of manual therapy in headache and temporomandibular dysfunction to physiotherapists and dentists. Romain is also an active clinician at his private clinic, focusing on headache and TMD collaborating with neurologists, dentists, general practitioners.
Romain commenced his PhD in 2018 at the University of Liège, in which he is, as part of a multidisciplinary team, using EBM approach investigating musculoskeletal assessment of patients with migraine to establish specific physiotherapeutic management of migraine.
